Zero-Waste Fashion – Recycled Clothing!

For several years now, we have observed a growing ecological awareness and an increasing expectation from customers for manufacturers to take responsibility for our shared future. These developments are also impacting the fashion industry: the time for Zero-Waste and Less-Waste fashion has arrived. But what does this mean, and where can you begin to genuinely contribute to a more conscious approach to clothing?

NEW LIFESTYLE FOR THE ENVIRONMENT

Some changes, such as purchasing a water filter jug (instead of buying plastic bottles every day), are easier to implement than changing fashion habits. However, the clothing industry, alongside the fuel industry, is considered one of the most environmentally harmful sectors. This is due to the overproduction of clothing and the promotion of a consumerist lifestyle. Until recently, frequent clothing purchases were the norm—or worse, a way to gain social recognition. These habits were not driven by actual needs but by the desire to keep up with rapidly changing trends.
Every year, the amount of water required to produce clothing is measured in tens of billions of cubic meters. In response to these issues, social pressures, and climate change, new lifestyles have emerged to counteract this mindset. Among them are “Zero Waste” and “Less Waste,” which we will now explore in more detail.

WHAT IS ZERO-WASTE FASHION?

Zero Waste is a lifestyle aimed at avoiding waste.
It can apply to various areas—from buying fruits and vegetables in handmade bags instead of plastic ones from the store, to foregoing certain products altogether. In the fashion world, Zero Waste means opting for recycled clothing or second-hand items purchased from thrift stores.
Those who embrace a Zero-Waste lifestyle choose pre-owned women’s or men’s clothing to reuse, preventing these items from ending up in landfills. At the same time, it’s a cost-saving approach!

ZERO WASTE OR LESS WASTE?

Less Waste is a somewhat easier form of an ecological lifestyle, where one strives to reduce their own waste without the pressure of completely avoiding it. This most often applies to one area of life—for example, the decision to use public transport instead of a car once a week. These are small steps that are important for the environment and can inspire others to take similar actions.
When looking into your wardrobe, you can apply a Less Waste approach by searching for information on where and how your clothes can be recycled.

WHERE TO START? AND IS IT REALLY WORTH IT?

The list of good habits and changes worth making is endless. Everyone can observe in their daily lives which habits they can change or introduce to minimize waste, protect the environment, and counteract thoughtless consumption. For example, replacing a plastic toothbrush with a bamboo one, or dedicating part of one’s wardrobe to second-hand clothing are simple steps. These individual actions are meaningful because, if they intensify and are practiced by many people, they can reach the institutions responsible for excessive production, water consumption, or the release of toxic substances into the environment. In the past, customer loyalty was sparked by new clothing arriving in stores every two days, but today, more and more customers want to see clothes made from recycled materials in store assortments.

SELLING USED CLOTHING

Both recycled fashion and second-hand clothing have gained popularity and have become part of the Zero Waste and Less Waste philosophies, creating an attractive lifestyle. This is great news for anyone considering opening a clothing store, such as a second-hand shop. The interest from potential customers is expected to increase even more in the coming years. Our inventory of used clothing includes men’s, women’s, and children’s items, which you can use both in physical stores and online. Zero Waste and Less Waste are also our philosophies and part of our mission, so we encourage you to get in touch with us directly to explore potential collaboration opportunities.

How to get rid of the smell of used clothing?

Outlet – What’s Behind It?

The term “outlet” includes end-of-collection items, clothing stock, consumer returns, unsold surplus in stores and warehouses. Other sources of outlet clothing include complaints, samples (production samples) that were never introduced into the collection. An outlet store may offer clothing from world-renowned brands, popular premium brands, or from well-known retail chains – at more attractive prices.
